Challenge Robotaxi and robobus services are moving into commercial operation, but how connectivity is actually used, and whether the economics work, is hard to see from Japan.
Work Focusing on Beijing, we examined (1) how the services are operated, (2) services enabled by connectivity (remote monitoring, intervention and operation; traffic information delivery), (3) the media used and the measures taken to secure communication quality, and (4) who bears the cost of the communication infrastructure and whether the service is profitable.
